The Canandaigua Fire Department (CFD) conducts all commercial fire, assembly and property maintenance inspections as well as educate business and property owners in regard to code compliancy and risk reduction within the City.
The City of Canandaigua Fire Department's mission is to reduce the likelihood of incidents that result in loss of life or property and to mitigate all other losses through a proactive, comprehensive fire inspection program. Fundamentally speaking, the best way to fight fires is to prevent them before they start.
The City of Canandaigua Fire Department under Section 1203 of Title 19, Rules and Regulations of the State of New York (NYCRR) is required to inspect all commercial occupancies every three years and assembly occupancies yearly.
The purpose of the inspection is twofold:
- To identify and correct violations of the fire code
- To educate business and property owners about fire safety and risk reduction
