Fire Department

The City of Canandaigua Fire Department (CFD) was established in 1816. CFD protects the City of Canandaigua and a large portion of the Town of Canandaigua under contract. The City of Canandaigua Fire Department is a combination department that is comprised of a volunteer hose company, career firefighters and career fire chief. CFD operates out of two stations; 24 hours a day, 6 days a week, 365 days a year.

Canandaigua Fire Department is an "All Hazards" department and remains a leader in the delivery of high-quality fire and emergency services. Services that include but not limited to:

  • Fire suppression
  • Basic life support first response (BLSFR)
  • Rescue services such as entanglement extrication
  • Rope
  • Ice/cold water rescue
  • Surface water rescue
  • Aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF)
  • Confined space rescue
  • Hazardous materials
  • Trench and collapse rescue
  • Many other technical disciplines
